Earlier this week, I was at my friends’ shop, With Gratitude, and saw that again this year, they had wheat grass growing in little pots for Easter. Connor, who I am convinced is part lamb, loves to eat grass, so I thought it would be nice to grow him a personal plot in a pot. 
After some chasing around to find the right seeds (no, it’s not wheat germ!), I planted the seeds on Wednesday.
It’s really quite astonishing to see how these plants grow. The pots at With Gratitude had grown so much over the weekend, that they’d pushed the dirt out onto the floor of the shop.
Wednesday:

When I looked at the grass on Sunday evening, I was fascinated to see tiny drops of water (dew?) on the tip of each piece of grass. Keep in mind, these blades of grass aren’t even an inch high yet!I hadn’t watered or sprayed the grass since early in the day. I am totally fascinated by this. 
That thready-looking things in the pictures are dog-hair. Naturally. 
I put the pot outside and then Furminated Connor. Hair everywhere! It’s for the birds.

You might remember I was attending an auction on Saturday. Many of the lots went for more than I wanted to pay, but I did manage to score one win. I bought a mixed lot of old linens... and a Rosenthal vase. 
I had only glanced at the lot, and I knew that there was a textile dealer in the room, so she and I decided which lots to bid on. I wouldn’t bid on the big lot of needlepoints and tapestry if she didn’t bid on this small lot. Of course, the big lot was bid up to $2,500 and my wee lot was hammered down for a mere $20.
In all, there were about 15 pieces of linen, from two huge tablecloths in cream, to one round one with a lot of intricate cut-work, to a set of eight napkins, to two fingertip towels, to one huck towel with cutwork, to the treasure of the lot:
two gorgeous linen top sheets with a beautifully embroidered monogram. Funnily, in the picture, it looks like the monogram is indented, but it’s actually a raised satin-stitch!
They’re in nearly perfect condition, they just need a little wash with my wonderful Le Blanc linen washes, which I talked about here. They’re specially formulated for linens like these and work beautifully. 
As a side note, they also have a Down Wash, which I have come to love and adore, 
as Connor’s now appropriated one of my down comforters. How could I possibly be mad at a face like that?
